Tickets for Troops: Welcoming Home our Armed Forces
With British Armed Forces serving in difficult and dangerous situations across the world, I have launched the Dumfries and Galloway Tickets for Troops campaign.
Our Armed Forces do an absolutely fantastic job in very difficult and dangerous situations and many of these brave men and women call Dumfries and Galloway home. Tickets for Troops is a initiative where we, as a local community, can give serving military personnel the hero's welcome home that they deserve.
Tickets for Troops is an opportunity for sports organisation and leisure facilities to donate tickets and welcome home members of the Armed Forces. They do a terrific job and we want to say 'thank you'. We are asking for sports and leisure facilities to donate to this initiative. I'm delighted that Queen of the South FC and Stranraer FC are leading the way by donating tickets, and hope that many more club and facilities will get on board too. Our aim is to have a wide range options for over the Christmas period, which is a particularly special time for troops.
I can't say how thankful we are to the men and women across Dumfries and Galloway who risk their lives daily to keep our country safe. I encourage local clubs and facilities to rally behind this initiative to recognise what a fantastic job our local troops do.
Eric Moffat, Secretary, Queen of the South
"We are delighted to be supporting Tickets for Troops. A lot of our fans are ex-services and it's only right that we recognise what a fantastic job British men and women are doing in the Armed Forces at the moment."
Alex Connor, Chairman of Stranraer FC
"Stranraer FC are committed to supporting community projects and Tickets for Troops is an excellent idea. Personally I have grandson in Afghanistan, and I know what a great job they all do. If there is anything we can do to support local community projects well."
